I started this because I needed something to do other than wallow in my current state of loneliness and I have this Koigu Yarn I absolutely love but I only have 2 balls and I didn't know what to do with it. The pattern is the lace ribbon scarf by Veronik Avery. She was inspired by The Sartorialist and all the chic people wearing scarves. It was also my first attempt at being a paperless knitter. Fail. Staring at the computer and going back and forth from the screen to my needles gave me such a headache that I had to stop after only 6 rows. There is a 24 row repeat. I did go back and finish the repeat a little later before going to bed. I also realized that I have lost my row counter.

Leather Satchel in Plymouth Rock $150 Gap
I didn't really like this bag when I first saw it. Then when I was at the store I tried looking for it to check it out. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. It fits my need to carry around less stuff.

E-town
Sunday was also a reunion of sorts with some friends from High School. The last time I saw Veronica and her boyfriend BJ and Krys was a year ago.

This is why we were all together:

E-town's 1st birthday. He is the most easy going, curious and fearless, and gosh darn cute kid I have ever met. He definitely belongs to Cheryl.

Since mom's birthday is only about a week before his he decided to share his cake with her and also because he is a total scene stealer.

This is the hat I made for him.

Weekend entertainment...
We went to Ravinia on Friday to see Feist. We brought a picnic dinner and a bottle of wine. It was fun to do something different even though it was ridiculously crowded and the train out there was packed.

Katie and Christian went too.

I worked on Ethan's hat until it was too dark to see!

Last time B and I took a picture together I think I was wearing the same shirt.

Katie and I have thing with getting a picture together in front of the Ravinia sign.
After the concert Katie and Christian drove us downtown, well tried to. The roads are all small side street like and twist and turn alot so you are never sure of what direction you are going and we got some bad directions more than once. It took awhile to get out of Ravinia-land to the expressway! Justin got tickets to Hellboy II for us for Bryson's birthday present. We went to the midnight showing and the AMC river east. It was a LONG night!
On Saturday night we went to a free Performance of Compagnie Transe Express' Maudits Sonnants at Navy Pier.

It was kinda fun as I seem to really love circus especially French circus. It was kind of slow moving but I think it was geared toward children and maybe that is why. I have a video of one of the trapeze artists but blogger doesn't seem to like uploading it so I will have to try again later.

CAMPING!!
Since everyone gave Bryson crap for not doing anything for his birthday we decided to go camping. We took the train to the Indiana State Dunes and went hiking, laid on the beach, ate backpacking food (a lot of it!), roasted marshmallows and attempted to catch the sunrise but found out that the dunes were actually in the way!

Its a really pretty area and pretty easy to get to for a mini vacation. Most people there actually had RV's and there were only a handful of actual tents. I think it would make a nice family vacation for a long weekend. The park has playgrounds and I think that there would be plenty to do and see for kids and adults.

July 4...
Reunion! whoo hoo! and my first time at the beach this year...

I made this cake for Nambi because she took over a shift last minute that I needed covered. It is the chocolate chip cake recipe without the chocolate chips that I sliced in half and put apricot jam and strawberries in the middle and on top with few blueberries added to the top for color. That is Jenny and Nambi enjoying my fruity experiment!
